Alakazam

Alakazam is not an EX card, but it can prey on many EX cards very hard. Its ability to score higher damage based on the amount of energy that the opponent has on their active Pokemon allows it to play a strong anti-meta role, hitting for a huge 180 damage against many common late-game Pokemon that want to have 4 or more energy on them, only falling short of the one-hit-KO on Venusaur EX alone at that point.

However, quick-kill archetypes like Pikachu EX and Starmie EX will tend to have a solid advantage against Alakazam decks, as they will frequently get out and start to trash the team before Alakazam can be fully setup and get to work. It has its issues, but Alakazam can be incredibly rewarding.
