Lapras EX is honestly seen as a poor-man's Articuno EX, but its recovery feature gives it a bit better performance when facing down select heavy hitters, potentially giving it the ability to survive one additional hit where Articuno would drop. That aside, it can also work well in an Articuno EX deck due to how similar their are, or in many other Water decks where Articuno generally slots in.

 A deck that's even-parts Lapras EX and Articuno EX. The goal is to get one of these two cards out, and then hopefully boost one of them with Misty immediately for a quick-kill. Articuno EX has stronger offensive presence due to having a 2-energy move and the ability to hit the bench, while Lapras EX has a stronger defensive presence with its self-healing, meaning both have their advantages.

Lapras EX is a decent wall when set up thanks in part to its recovery, and Frosmoth's ability to inflict Sleep can allow it to live a surprising amount of time, or create an opening for Lapras EX to come in given an advantageous coin flip.
