textDescription

The new Arceus is out and fits well into the Dialga deck as a win condition. Ideally, you’ll want to open with Skarmory plus a Tool to pressure the opponent’s Pokémon with a solid 50 damage. Alternatively, you can open with Dialga to tank hits with its 150 HP while ramping up Arceus. By turn 3, Arceus’s attack will be enabled when you retreat Dialga using a Leaf or the two Energy attached to Dialga.

In the worst-case scenario, Arceus starts in the active spot, which happens about 20% of the time. To mitigate this, you have two Leaf cards to help correct that bad luck.

A single copy of Giovanni is extremely useful for reaching 140 damage, the standard for an EX Pokémon, while one Dawn can provide additional flexibility with benched Pokémon and Energy management. Adaman and Giant Cape can help your Pokémon survive potential one-hit KOs, buying you an extra turn or two. You might also consider swapping one Potion or Dawn for an extra Adaman.

Shaymin-Sky would be a good fit here, then you can run Xspeed instead of Leaf. And Arceus' attack is more consistent.

I’ve used this deck many times, and adding another Basic Pokémon would be a mistake. It would increase the chances of a bad starting hand due to mulligans and weaken the effectiveness of your Poké Ball cards. In the worst-case scenario, Arceus would be in the active spot at the start, which happens about 20% of the time. To mitigate that risk, you have two Leaf cards that can help correct that bad luck. With this setup, you’ll have a very consistent opener with Skarmory plus a Tool or Dialga EX in the active spot. If one Skarmory gets knocked out, losing a Dialga would likely mean match point for your opponent. That’s why having five Basic Pokémon is the perfect number for Arceus to work properly. This ensures a steady presence of four Pokémon in play, allowing Arceus’s attack to consistently hit for 130 damage.
